I sometimes wonder why Dunlop doesn't nix their other lines of touring tires and just make the E3, as I don't see a downside to them. You get excellent handling wet and dry, greatly reduced groove tracking, and superb tire mileage.

Since the E3 was originally made for GW's to address tire-wear complaints, I can only speculate that they want to keep the E3 market from expanding too much since being less wear prone they will sell more tires with the other models--that is unless buyers bail and go to Metzeler or other brands. So it's a calculated risk on their part either way.

Remember that they deny a Harley application for any E3, either via their site or if you talk to a tech-support person. It's like "No, we don't have an E3 that applies to Harleys." Well, they do but just don't acknowledge it publically, and refuse to expand the line to include '09 and later HD's.

Anyway, for me and other HD owners who don't demand WW tires, this tire is a winner and I won't look back unless something changes. I'm at 16.5k now on my rear with 4/32" in the center (10/32" is new by my measurement), and expect to get 20k out of this one. That's the same mileage I got out of the first two D402's that were on this bike combined.

Well I'll throw my $.02 in, I have about 300 miles on my E3's front and rear, no way to beat the price and they handle great through the twistys, I think there just as quick as the Metz's myself, I rode a freinds fatboy with those Avons and the bike was the worst handling bike I've ridden to date, he replaced with Metz and it was like a different bike, I had two sets of 880's on the rear and one up front and these E3's compare side by side imo, and $239 for 2 tires mounted balanced ain't bad either, I did the install myself saving oh say $150.

Well I'm sure glad to hear all the great reviews on the E3's, I am putting one on the rear of my 07 RG tomorrow can't wait til my 402 front wears out so I can change it to the E3. Based on some of the reviews it does not appear I have to worry about running an E3 Rear and a 402 Front for the time being. thanks for the input

I'm running the same psi as stock D402s. I only have an E3 on the rear and am running 40psi.

I rode down to the York Open House last week, about 550 miles in all in 3 days including the wonderful ground down pavement on I-81 and I-84 in PA. This was the first long trip on a set of E-3's I have on the bike (aobut 750 miles so far) and I have a real fond spot for these already. No wiggle on the ground down roads, they do track very neutral and no more following all of the tar snakes on the aging roads here in NYS.

I haven't ridden in the rain with them yet, but from what I've read, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Yeah, the guy who ordered them for me and put them on kept telling me I was getting the wrong tire. They were not rated for bigger bikes. Well, I new I had checked the load rating against the 402's and the ratings were a tad higher on the E3's. He even called Dunlop and they told him they were not for the Harley bikes. Bottom line, he ordered them and put them on. Who was I going to listen to? A guy who went with what Corporate America was saying, or a bunch of guys on some forum that have a wealth of knowledge and experience who are willing to go outside the box to improve their ride? You guessed it. I have E3's and feel they are a great tire and a safe option for the Harley. Nuff said.
