Default RK cruise control install?

I'm thinking about installing cruise control to my '05 Road King. Can anyone who's done it give me any insight on how difficult this is to install. Is it worth paying the stealer to install and set up? I do have 12" apes, I don't know if that would make the job that much more difficult or not.
Let me know what you guys think.

I did it on my 06 RK a couple of years ago. It took me 3 or 4 hours with the help of my son in-law. You will need the service manual for sure. The hardest thing for us was getting the C-clip on that holds the cable to the throttle. We just took our time and in the end it was a job well done.

Just notice you said you have 12" bars. This may be a problem because you may have to lengthen the wiring for the new switches.

Many here, myself included, have installed HD's cruise control on our bikes as a DIY project. The only difference with your bike is lengthening the handlebar wiring. Unless you already know an awful lot about your bike, and I didn't with mine, the service manual is essential.

Suggestion: stop by the local HD dealership and ask the parts counter guy to print-out the installation instructions for the HD cruise kit for your bike. That way you can see what's involved and what parts are supplied. On my '04, it included new right handlebar switches and housings. With your RK, it will probably include housings and switches for both sides.
