Anyone familiar with 09 Police Touring Bike Handlebar Stop Service Bulletin?

Default Anyone familiar with 09 Police Touring Bike Handlebar Stop Service Bulletin?

I just heard that there is a service bulletin out for the 2009 police touring bikes that lists a fix for the handlebars. The problem was that the police motor officers were unable to turn the handlebars to full lock due to Harley's new design that has a handlebar stop on the top of the frame neck which limits the handlebars from turning as far as 08 and earlier touring bikes.

Harley changed the design on ALL 2009 touring bikes, but they have a service bulletin that is out for the 2009 police bikes only. Harley has a part that changes out the part on the fork so that the bikes can then turn full lock.

Has anyone seen this service bulletin? I am looking to order the Harley part that changes out the part on the forks.

I have a 2009 FLHP - my dealer told me about the service bulletin and has ordered the part. I'm bringing the bike in Sunday for the change next week.

Call Sean Jones at Ft. Lauderdale Harley - he should know the part number.

I have been trying to locate some part number info for this fix so I can get my Street Glide handlebars to go full lock for some nice tight turns.

Just called Sean and he couldn't have been more helpful to me. He asked me what bike I had and took the time to research part number info to make sure I get the right part.

I just ordered the kit that I need from Harley and it is coming off backorder in 2 days, so I should have it within a week or two.

I was wondering why I couldn't make really sharp turns!

This program was for 2009 police bikes ONLY and is covered under warranty for a specified amount of time. This affects the upper triple tree in that the fork stops were incorporated into their design when the new frame was introduced.
The redesigned program kit not only contains the tree but other modified body components to prevent contact damage to other motorcycle parts because of the decreased turning radius (increased fork turning ability right and left).
There is also an inspection of the bike that the dealer must do to ensure that the OE stops have not been modified prior to the installation of the new kit. This disqualifies the bike from receiving the kit in that owner modification and the kit together would allow the fork to swing too far past acceptable points.

This kit is not available for sale.

These modifications were made OE for all 2010 touring bikes.

Thanks for the added info, but what kit did I just order from HD? It was part number 94746. Harley shows it coming off backorder on September 25, 2009. We should have it here within a week or so after they come off backorder.
