TC88 oil circulation problems

Default TC88 oil circulation problems
I have an 06' FLHPI and I replaced the tensioners a few months ago. I have had what sounds like valve train noise. Oil pressure is good, 20-22 idle and 50-60 at hwy speeds. I have been into the the cam chest 3 times and I cannot find any problems. Any Ideas or suggestions?

Kirby, I will piggy-back off this thread to ask you a question. Do you have, or have a source for a diagram of the Twin Cam oil circuit? They use to put one in the EVO shop manuals, but I can't seem to locate one for the Twin Cam and my manual does not include that.

Are you using synthetic oil? If so, thats probably the cause of the valve train noise. Many complants from people here,incuding myself, about syn oil and valve train noise. Now I will be attacked for this by the Amsoil police.

I have been using Amsoil 20w50. I was using it before the noise. Actually I changed the oil right after I got the bike to amsoil. The sound Is best described as loading the rocker boxes with pennies...

Change the oil to a good dino 20w50 and see if your noise dont quiet down a bit. Same thing here when i tried Amsoil, lots of valve train noise, but all is good now with the tried and true dino, Been working great for how long now?????

There are many many reports for cycle & auto engine mechanical noise increases with synthetic oils. But the noise is not an indication of wear. Try a fill of HD360 or Brad Penn 20w50 and see if it quiets down. The only syn oil that is as quiet as dino is Redline which is a Group V POE oil. My engine sounds like a sewing machine with syn 20w50.

I also have oil flow probs a rocker full of pennys is no oil in top end I can run my tc88 with no rocker covers cos there is no oil pushing up through push rods, I have yet to solve the issue

I've used every oil known. Conventional and synthetic. My bike sounds like a can of marbles with mobil 1. Amsoil lessened the noise by some however royal purple auto 20w-50 eliminated it. So did motul and amsoils straight 60 grade.
So the comment that synthetic increases valvetrain noise isn't accurate. SOME synthetics contribute to more noise,not all.
