I just recently(yesterday) got my bobber re-wired. It ran fine yesterday. After I got it home, the wire mesh covered oil lines are arcing against the tranny. "smoke"! I have chased any possible chafed wires, but I only ran it around my buddys block before I put it on the trailer to bring it home, and just ran it to park it. When I tried to crank it again....smoke.
When you say 're-wired' what do you mean? Did you have a new wiring harness(s) put on the bike? or?
Generally when the magic smoke appears something electronic has burned and died. Without understanding what was 're-wired' and what else was effected, its hard to point you in the right direction.
Sounds like the problem some of the softails exhibited! The positive terminal on the battery would wear through and short to the oilbox which is not grounded to frame. the result was the current flowed down the oil lines covers and cause them to melt. Check your battery terminal and all HOT wireing around the oil container.
Your too fast for me! and it appears i was way off!
