Default How many miles did you go before needing a rebuild?

This should be interesting....by all means if you got over 100,000 and never had the engine apart lets us know what bike and engine it was.

I thought they fixed that with the EVO engines?

the tc88's are a lot different than the Evo's and have had this issue from day 1 till the 96er's came out with the new Hyd unit.

Many of the guys I ride with put on over 25K a year, and the majority of them are running TC88's.

A lot of them have well over 100,000 miles on the original engine without having any major engine issues.

The TC88's are one of the most dependable engines out there, and I have never heard of any major issues.

I own a Panhead, Shovel, EVO, a couple of TC88's, and also a Sportster EVO based 1200.

I would be very surprised if either of my TC88's developed any major engine problem before they reached the 100K mark.

Had the top end redone at around 62,000. It was still running good, just the base gaskets were seeping. The bottom end has never been into. It has 69,000 miles on it now. 95 model Evo.

I know this...I just never thought Harley would make the same mistake twice in a row.

Oldfenderguy, Mine was running strong up until it came apart; I had put about 500 miles on it that day as we had ridden down to Phenix City, AL for CVMA "Pic's" funeral and it laid down within 100 yards of the Harley dealer closest to my house. Just glad it didn't do it on the way back from Nationals in Tulsa.

Had the same problem with my 05 WG at 33k. Let's hear it for extended warranties. Harley ate the 4 grand repair bill.
