Yes, only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Too much snow.

i stick to the schwag while on trips just so i don't get too high

I was there on August 1 and could only get to the 12,000ft level at the gate at Summit Lake as the road on up was closed due to a snow fall the evening before!! They had the snow plowed and we made it all the way to the top on our way back through the following Friday on August 7.

If you were a pilot, you would need supplementary O2 at 12,500 FT

That's pretty high without wings.

I've added Mt. Evans to my "must ride" list. Maybe next summer.

Just west of Denver. Lot's of good riding around there and I can suggest some real good loops around the area when you go.

If you got higher than me, you must have wings on your Harley. Just outside La Paz Boliva during our 2007 trip from tip of South American back to Winnipeg Canada...over 17,000 feet

WOW! That's really getting high on a Harley.

Unfortunately due to the distance from where I live, I don't think I will add this to my "Must Ride" list. But it sure looks like a neat ride.

Check out the pictures on the southwest section of this fourm 2nd green chili run. that was a lot of high passes in Colorado. was a grate ride.
