They must've done the flash before roadtesting for the stalling and pinging issues because they said they couldn't replicate them. Obviously the flash fixed all 3 problems.

The flash worked great for me but I'm sure there are other things that can cause intermittent stalling.
Thanks for that. Before I read your post I talked to my dealer and was told there are no service bulletins on my bike. He searched by VIN.
He then said I needed a update flash that would probable fix the problem for $200 including 1/2 hour labor. I made an appointment but later realized why should I pay for what should be warranty repair? After your post I'm convinced they're screwing with me.

roofgunner: I will try your fix first, then call the next nearest dealer only 120 miles away. You're right, it's very annoying!

The reason I want to try to fix the problem with my bike is that I want to learn from it. Previous posts mentioned the throttle position sensor. Anything is possible. I have faith in the guys at Worth H-D but you never really know. I fall back on experience. On my Nissan Sentra, which has 420,000 miles on it, it started this jerking at 65 mph after it had only 40 or 60 k onit. Intermittent and annoying. The dealership replaced the throttle postion sensor and they really were taking a stab at it. Well, it began doing it again. While working at Solano State Prison, as a c/o, I did alot of talking with the inmates, who were involved with the ASE auto program and of course they had alot of time on the hands. They tore stuff apart. Then I had one explain that really all a throttle position sensor was, was a reostat. When the contacts inside the reostat got worn (and these are cheaply made at least in the Nissan) there would be intermittent voltage changes. These changes would tell the computer that the throttle was closed which told the injector not to send fuel which caused the car jerking. AND the throttle position sensor is connected by connectors and what do connectors do?????? The fail, intermittently to connect due to moister, corrosion, ect. Then there can be bad grounds. So, this is why it is worth it to at least attempt to fix the problem by checking contacts, cleaning parts before you invest the money in buying a new part. Why buy a new part when the plug that you connected the part to, was fouled. You can think it's fixed. But later the plug gets a bad contact and the problem comes up again, and all that happens is you wallet gets drained. So we'll see what happens with my bike because in a couple of weeks I'm headed to PA. so see my dad and then to North Carolina and back to MO. Miles will tell.

I am riding over to the Tail of the Dragon and other areas nearby at the end of the month. So I was concerned enough to make an appointment with the dealer and went yesterday. They did their diagnostics, let it run for an hour (I didn't like that one) to get it hot and then three service guys including the service manager all test rode it. Of course it acted just fine, just as it had on the 100 mile trip up. They then did a stock download flash that was two versions updated from mine. This was all done as under warranty. It does run fine now but I'll have to put miles on it before I completely trust it. I'll let y'all know how it progresses. Oh, I took off the Xieds before heading to the dealer. If I have not problems, I'll replace them.

As of late, I took my bike on a PGR mission (about 170 miles round trip) after I cleaned the IC valve and throttle body area. The bike ran fine, and maybe a little smoother. In Oct., using my H-D chrome points, I'm going to put on the SE air cleaner, VH slip-ons or the SE and going to have them do the $150 down load. I'm going to tell them that while they have their computer stuff hooked up to check it and talk to the mech. But, before that, I'm making a run to PA and NC and back to MO. We'll see what happens and I'll report!!!!! Tom

After 1500 miles, 1200 in the last four days I can report no more rough idle and no flame outs. It seems the stock download with a later version has fixed my problems. It also runs much better under all conditions especially carving through the Smokey Mountains.

My 2007 FXSTC (w/ 12K mi.) has an intermittent high idle, followed by a low idle/stalling when stopped at lights. This only happens once the bike has been run for ~1 hour and is hot.

So far, I've cleaned the throttle body and replaced the IAC.

The dealer just flashed the ECM with the latest downloads that were supposed to fix these issues, yet the problems still persist.

Has anyone found a fix for these problems?

Is anyone familiar with HD bulletin TT410, that is supposed to address these issues?

Thanks

Reading through this. Seems most that are having the problem seem to have either the PC or Xied.

My 07 did the die at stop lights 2-3 time when new.. Then at the 1k service I had the stg1, SERT and dyno done.

She has now ran another 34k as far as idleing. The SERT and dyno solved that issue

Also during those 34k I've had two missing out issues.

First one at 16k that loose battery bolts caused. Fixed easy by tightening the bolts. Yea the dealer did my service then, Imagine that,, They must have missed checking them.

Second one was she started Missing out every time I had about 100 miles into a full tank of gas. Fix was new gas hoses and filter inside the tank at 33k because of a Pin Hole in the line.
This is being seen more and more as time goes on. I've had 2 friend this summer who had the same issue.
The wrench that worked on mine thinks the Ethanol gas is whats causing the Hoses to go bad. HD needs to address the material they make the hoses out of.
And it not just the softails, its across the board on all HD bikes.

Thanks to all for your posts. I have an 06 Ultra and have been having the same issues for a while now. Dealership keeps telling me I need a HD Race Tuner. Even told me my Fuel Pak was bad, then V&H walked the service tech through a re-program with all the after market mods. Ran great for a few weeks, and the problem has returned. I will have look specifically look at the TPS, and IAC. Hopefully they fix it soon. Nothing like coming off the highway and having the bike cut out in traffic and can't manuever quickly if needed. I will poat my results to.

My '07 FXSTC does the same thing. Not all the time but it sucks when it acts up. A local indy told me the IAC was fine. He tested a few other things and said it was bad gas. He added some fuel additive and sent me on my way, no charge. Everything seemed fine for a few weeks but then it started to happen again. I hope this thread stays active until someone figures out the what the heck is going on.

I have had an on and off problem with my 2008 fatboy sometimes stalling when you pull up to stop at an intersection after riding a bit. Again this is random doesn't happen every time and usually if I turn the ignition off and restart the bike and its fine for some time. I also occasionally have an issue where the idle goes way up when I start the bike for a second. I am outside my warranty period and thought I recall reading something here about a similar problem but could not find it during a search. If anyone has any thoughts on this could please let me know.
