Default Radial / Bias Mixed Metzler 880

I have performed a search but have been unable to find an answer to my question.

I want to install the following Tires on my 07 Street Bob:
Metzeler - ME 880 Marathon Touring Rear Tire
Size - 170/60R-17 (Radial)

and

Metzeler - ME 880 Marathon Touring Front Tire
Size - 100/90H-19 (Bias)

The dealer says not to do this as it will create an unsafe situation. The indy doing the install says this is not a problem.

Is anyone running these tires on a Street Bob or Dyna with Stock rims?
Any opinions or feedback on this tire combination?

Thanks in advance.

Default No problem

I don´t see that mixing these tyres are a problem. I have no experience with Metzelers, however I just put on Avon Venom (100/90-19) front bias and Avon Viper Sport (170/60-17) radial rear.

I did a good 30 mile ride last weekend and the bike handles beautifully. (2007 Low Rider). The bike leans effortlessly into the corners and keeps it´s line with minimum stearing input. A total transformation in my mind. Be sure to find out the right air pressure to put in!

Not a problem. Lots of wide tire bikes run a radial on the back and bias on the front. I'm pretty certain ones like a Softail Standard come that way new.

It does bring up the question....

if you shouldn't mix tire types, why is it difficult to find matching front and rear tires?

Thing that make ya go Hmmmmm....

i have talked to people and read posts for countless hours on this subject. most people will agree that unless you take your bike on a racetrack, youll prob never know the difference.

I am running the Metz. 90/90 21" bias tire up front, and the 170/60 17" radial on the rear . I put 300 miles on them last Sunday with no problems. In fact the bikes handles so effortlessly it's like a dream compared to the stock tires. I love them.

thanks to all for the replies! Dropping off the bike with the indy tomorrow.

I'll post back after Delmarva Bike week. I should get some milage on the new tires by the end of that trip.

Harley definitely offer some models with radial rear and bias front as standard fitment
