Default Road King to Street Glide

In progress of converting my 2005 Road King Custom to a Street Glide. Had too much $$ into the motor to buy the SG so it made sense for me. I ordered hard bags, outer/inner fairing, fairing mirrors, fairing brackets and many of the main and miscellaneous parts from Zanotti's and Chicago Harley. Bought bars, switches on bars (for later use if I add radio), gauges, fuel filler (I'm a carbed setup), console, fairing harness etc from others for a pretty good bargin. No radio but it will be ready for it if I ever go that way as all factory wiring will be there. My fairing will be setup with all gauges (oil temp in replace of air temp) and they are the black gauges, no radio so I am using the E-Glide std glove box and just speaker covers. Mounting the fairing is the easy part so far, wiring will be a little time consuming but not too bad. Went with flush mount fuel cap and gauge which doesn't function and will powder coat them black (vivid black bike) so I didn't have to change the tank right away unless I find a great deal on one. Biggest issues I found is with the Main Wiring harness which is different but you can get away with not replacing the main harness. I have the fairing harness and the connectors with tails from a Street Glide main harness to wire back. Without radio takes much less wiring and if you use your factory controls on your bars that helps as well. I changed out the steering lock with a lock/ignition switch off the street glide so the only visual items I won't have right away are the tank (will have the proper console, door and filler), radio and rear fender filler panel which I may add at some point. I'm selling or sold many of my existing parts to reduce my out of pocket. I put together a spreadsheet for parts I ordered to keep track of costs and one for wiring which I'm still working on but without radio or controls it's only 12 or so connections that need to be made and two of those are seperate lines anyway (oil pressure sending unit). I plan to finish assembly next weekend and will post before and after pics. I'm powder coating many of the parts so it's taking more time that I had planned but I only want to do this once.

The build is part of the enjoyment..

My first question is why? What do you hope to gain?
Then - budget - how much money do you have?

As with any motor vehicle - $$$ are the issue. If you have um you are golden.

Probably a dumb question but - Are there any additional power requirements with this setup over a stock RK due to the increased electronics' power needs?

There are two additional fuseable positions on the Street Glide. Radio power and Radio Memory. 9 positions for the RK and 11 for the SG. The rest of the panel is the same including fuse ratings. The only other items you are powering under the fairing are the additonal gauge lamps.
