You have to different dealerships to get all your done under that insurance called extended service plan. They would not fix my trans useless it lockup and broken part was not covered. Had to use a different dealership for repairs on the broken trans parts. Six times in the shop for a month every time in one year each time had to stay longer because the insurance people had to come down after it was taken apart before they could fix the job. Pipes would brake order a piece of the pipe then wait and never want to fix the real problem that was a bad motor mount. It's cheap to use your money and get things fix in one day and go riding then paid for a service that not working very well.

$3700? Maybe so, in which case the ESP has more than paid for itself, including the additional 5 years and who knows what might go wrong over that period? NOt to mention, other than the crank and rods, almost everything is new, not rebuilt. So in my case, I am out nothing, came out ahead, and have 5 remaining years on the warranty. Had it been a new bike purchase, I would not have bought the ESP. Thanks.

Your can get all with harley rebuild program at the same price if your motor brakes. I just put a big bore kit in for half that over a weekend.

You're not making sense. The initial 3 year ESP did not cost anywhere near $3700. It was less than a 1/3rd of that. The initial 3 year ESP paid for a new motor. How did I lose on this purchase decision?

3 years was $2500 on my freind bike. The first two years are cover under harley. The other person talk about paying $3700 for 7 years. The HD motor program is $3200 for a rebuild engine. The price is different per engine. Must of use people doing ride that much.

Well, I bought bike used from the dealer (decommissioned cop bike), and the 3 year ESP was no where near the amounts you are stating. As I mentioned, it was less than a 1/3 of that $3700 you keep tossing at me. And I got a new motor (minus crank and connecting rods) out of it. According to your numbers, I would have had to pay $3200 for the HD motor program, which is more than the combined cost of the initial 3 year ESP and the additional 5 year ESP I purchased. The additional 5 years I purchased in the beginning of June 2009 cost me $1500. Plus I now have 5 more years of ESP coverage on a 10 year old Harley. How is that a bad deal for me, I don't see it.

If you ride a lot of miles the extended warranty pays off. I have 2006 Street Glide that I purchased new, broke in strictly by the book, changed oil every 2500-2800 miles using SYN-3 synthetic. I now have 35800 miles on the bike and the warranty has covered a broken front motor mount, cracked rear head pipe (caused by broken mount), fairing brackets (twice), injector replacement, swing arm bearing replacement, and the bike is currently in the shop having spun a cam bearing which will require a new cam compartment replacement kit which I will pay for the upgrade to the hydraulic cam chain tensioner. All the warranty work thus far would have cost about $2200-$2400. I ride mostly long road trips, the bike has never seen red line and has had more than it's share of problems (at least I think so).

If you can afford it get the warranty, a $1000 goes no where if there is any kind of major repairs needed.
