JB: Not in NM but my wife and I really like Mi Ranchito on Pueblo Blvd. (across from the golf course). I'm especially fond of their rellenos and the green is good and hot (or mild if you choose). Mind telling me where you like to eat in Colorado Springs? I work here and haven't found one I like yet.

Also - +1 on Michaels Kitchen in Taos. Great food and excellent atmosphere. Too bad Cotton Hill didn't have any luck with the waitress...I told her he was just out on a day pass from the mental health clinic down the street...hope that didn't mess up his evening.

Our favorite restaurant is La Casa Fiesta and is actually in Monument 15 miles north of Colorado Springs. Their web site is www.lacasafiesta.net. I know right, who would guess that a small town like Monument would have better Mexican food than a decent sized metropolis like Colorado Springs. My in-laws who live in Denver actually come down once in a while just to eat there too. If we have to stay in the Springs then 3Margharitas is decent, most of the time. There are a few others that are good whos names escape me right now but none are as good as La Casa in our opinion.

I don't remember the name of the place, but I got a great green chili burger at a place in Shiprock. Real dump, but good burgers.

I lived in Albuquerque for four years. Try the Albuquerque Tortilla Factory on 4th street for a quick lunch. Best are carnitas or carne adovada burritos. Its a lunch place only. Go to the Isleta casino south of town. They always have Native American food on the buffet and is very good. El Pinto and Sadies are excellent. Remember, on Tamales and carne adovada, ask for red sauce. On chile rellenos, ask for green. Never mix red and green. The church street cafe in old town is also good. Have fun in Albuquerque.

Been to The Church, that was quite good, not that I could remember how to get there now but I'm sure I could find it.

Unfortunately I was just informed that things are not going well at work and so the wife and I need to tighten the belt in case my hours get cut this winter. That means no over nighters till spring when construction hopefully picks back up. Also means no pipes, pcV or bags till spring, dang-it.

Come spring though we will definitely be making a trip or two down there so keep the recommendations coming.

Wife and I just got back from New Mexico. We found a great green chili cheeseburger at Sparky's in Hatch.

We went to Michael's in Taos on the green chili run The food was good and they were good to accommodate the group after we arrived.

I guess it depends on if you mean "Mexican food" or native "New Mexican Spanish" food. There are not many Mexican restaurants in northern NM but lots of Spanish restaurants. If you are looking for some good ones in Santa fe, try Maria's, The Shed, Tomasitas or my new favorite, El Milagro. These are all good and the food is traditionally prepared. There are more Mexican restaurants in southern NM.

Too bad you can't make it down this year, but if you make it later, contact me and I will be glad to help you.

The service at the Owl in San Antonio really does suck. Try the Elk Horn just west of there on the south side of 2nd st. ( highway 380). It's much better.
Michaels in Taos is always a good bet.
The Tortilla factory in Albuquerque has moved from 4th st to Osuna west of 2nd St.
The food is still great there.
Casa Benavides, Sadies, Los Quates, Garcias and Mary & Titos are all good in Albuquerque. I'm sure I've left out many other great ones.

Charlies **** & Span is a bakery and restaurant in Las Vegas NM. They make fresh tortillas right at the counter. Both the food and pastries are excellent.

El Paso Tx. is about 60 miles from Hatch, NM where most of the chile is grown, yet you will get funny looks if you order green chile there. They think that if it isn't red, it isn't ripe yet.

If you can't put green chile on or in it, it ain't worth eatin.

Try it in apple pie. You will be amazed.
