Default Clutch Help on a 96' Heritage.

Anyone got an idea here? I broke the clutch cable on my 96' Heritage, i replaced it, now the clutch will not disengage. I checked to make sure i had the cable in right, i have full travel on the cable and the release mechanism in the side cover where the cable goes into. I pulled the derby cover and checked for clucth plate travel, it moves what seems to be all the way out.
But when i pull the clutch handle the back wheel is still locked in, the wheel will not roll free. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Figures, was planning on riding over to Sturgis this weenend.

Is that clutch lever tight to the stop Maybe the clutch cable adjustment ? The trany fluid is back in right? Did you start the bike up ?

The clutch lever is at full travel to the stop, and the cable has 1/16" play at he handle. Have not put tranny fluid back in yet, and did start it but still would not relaese the clutch.

None of the bearings fell out of the ramp mechanism where the cable attaches in the trany right side cover ? Just a thought that might cause lack of rod throw to release the clutches

Arm on ramp is down instead of up. Loosen cable and use something through filler hole to pull ramp up then readjust.

The 96 models have a spring plate which is located in the middle of the clutch friction discs and plates. They are bad about wearing the rivits and causing the springs to come loose.
That is more than likely where your problem lies.

I have the same problem on my '98 FLSTS, did you solve the problem and if so what was the cause?

Sounds like the separator plate separated. I'm sure you found what the problem is by now, let us know.
