This was taken at the "Buy a Drag Queen a Drink" booth back in '98. What the hell, it was a goOd cause. Be prepared to see all kinds of things "floating" around . . . LoLP.S. Notice the nice beads I'm wearing - I EARNED those fursur!

Johnny White's is on St Peter Street, two blocks behind St Louis Cathedral/Jackson Square. Its just steps from Bourbon. Most of us that live on NO rarely go to the Quarter--just a couple times a year, and Bourbon even less often. Bourbon is a blast the first time, if you get drunk. After that it starts getting old.

I agree with nolamike. Bourbon street is not really where the locals go...at least not for nightlife. However, I do enjoy going to the quarter during the day on the weekends, or even lunch during the week. I wouldn't hang out all day, but eating at port of call or any of the other areas between esplanade and decatur, is pretty cool.
BTW, the Joint is one my favorites that's within a couple miles of the french quarter.

I grew up down there and as a teen even worked at a restraunt on Burbon st. That place is so corrupt even the cops help the bar owners screw you over. I don't go to the French Quarter unless I absolutly HAVE to.
If the cops think one in your group racked your pipes, you ALL get a ticket. For someone who's never been down there, I say go and have a good time. Some like it and some don't.

The Pit Stop on Hwy 90 Metairie (or Metree) as the locals may say is one of the better biker bars. Pick up a copy of Full Throttle or similar biker mag at the local dealers in the area. there is more than one bike night somewhere in the area every night.

yeah right. Mardi Gras beads are only worn by locals during Mardi Gras. To them Mardi Gras is like Christmas and you don't wear Christmas accessories when it's not near Christmas. Here in Alabama the beads are Talladega Beads--no concept of Mardi Gras. Beads at the race track result in same exposures as in New Orleans. LOL.
