I have used this cover (nelson rig) on several different bikes and have never had a problem with it scratching the paint but I have not used it on a black bike. I have always had silver. The cover is made of a very soft type of material and nelson claims it will not scratch the bikes finish and I feel that it would be safe on a black bike but who knows.

I just received the Nelson-Rigg cover and thought folks might like to see it on my '08 Road Glide with Chopped Tour-Pak. The cover fits good and stores in an included fanny pack that is a little smaller than the size of a football. There aren't slots for an antenna, so you might need to cut them into the cover. The sides of the cover have elastic loops that stretch around the passenger footboards, and there is a velcro strap under the fairing portion that provides some stability against wind. I'm really happy with it, and it's small enough to take on tour. I'm wondering if the fabric is heatproof, so I'll be careful not to let it touch the mufflers or headers.

I pull up at work and throw mine on and it hits the head pipes and mufflers sometimes while putting it on and no melting that is what I like about it. I also have a quick shade and it will melt in a heart beat so I don't like to use it.

I have the neslon rigg 1/2 cover for my 07 Ultra and love it... Only problem was my antennas.... SOOOOOOO..... I marked the cover where the antennas would come up through, cut a small hole... then took some old blue jeans, cut 4 square patches and had my dear aunt sew the patches over each hole.... Voila!!!!!!!! Reinforced holes to stick my antennas out through in my nelson rigg 1/2 cover..... Works great.....

I used mine for the first time this week, and worked like a champ to keep her dry during our afternoon rain. I just took the antennas off my tour pak (I have the shorties) and through them in the box, prior to putting the cover on. You can't beat this one for storage, a full cover takes up nearly a 1/4 of a saddle bag, this thing takes up less than 1/2 of that. Don't regret the purchase one bit.

I just ordered off for a 1/2 cover based on all the super-positive comments here. Thanks for being an HDFORUMS sponsor!

I see you brought your price down to $31.99, which is great, and I am in once they are back in stock. My question is this: I have a road king classic with 24" shield on it... would it be ok going over it, or would it scratch the shielf? If so, I can probably put it over my 12.5" apes, and then on the chopped tour pack, but would I then need an XL? I leave my bike in the sun at work sometimes, and it kills me to think of that paint roasting all afternoon. Any / all assistance is appreciated!

I wish someone made em for Street Glides. The units are shown on bikes with a tour-pac. Street Glides dont have a tour-pac.
Even the Harley covers are for bikes with a tour-pac. I own one and dont like that fact.
If it shows it with a tour pac it will cover the street glide but it will not fit.
Know what I mean?

was thinking the same thing, my SG sits out all day in the sun at work been looking for a 1/2 cover also. What I'd really like to find is something that would cover just the fairing/ gauges as the dash is what seems to fade the most.
