In the August issue of American Iron, Donny Petersens techline article deals with heads and exhaust systems. Deep in the article on page 60, he says when adding mufflers and an air cleaner that- "The stage 1 recalibration may or may not be necessary since many TC 96 Twin Cams already come with a slightly rich AFR from the factory".
Does that make any sense to anyone. I always thought the opposite!

Well lets talk about my 06 glide classic.. My buddy put it on his dyno for free.. Finally i got a chance to look at it and damn he took tons of fuel outta it? I asked him WTF.. he says it was fat.. Ok i believe him but it stumbled at low speeds so I tuned it (pcIII USB) by the seat of my pants and it really runs better in town now.. on the highway its still set up the way he had it -like 15 on the fuel and it runs great ?... So yes they can be fat from the factory..
Interesting. I've never had my bike on a dyno so have no idea. It's completely stock (not even an oil cooler). But one thing I can tell you is that i've never had the bike go into Heat mode (EIMS or whatever you call it) despite some 90's and 100 or so temps here the past few weeks. The plugs look good on it and it's never pinged even once. So i've been wondering if this bike might actually be pretty much on target? All I read on here says they're "always too lean" yet I've had no symptoms of that - no fried thighs, etc. Could it be?

Anyone that states information like this simply has not done any actual testing on these models or does not know or understand their ECM strategy.
i ain't believing it. the plugs certainly don't show any indication of running rich. they clearly are lean, in all of our 4 bikes. 06-WG, 07 UC & RG and a 09 RK.
