Mine acted up two years ago the same way yours did and I ended up replacing the set/resume switch. Well just today I hit the resume to go bact to 70 and it continued accelarating past 85 before I shut it down. After that it no longer works. I stopped and pickeed up a new switch on the way home and its has been revised since the last one I purchased so I hope it lasts longer.

Mine was throwing a PO577 code. Check engine light would come on and couldn't set the cruise. Pulled and sealed the set/resume switch and no problems since. Ended up it was just moisture shorting the switch.

Mine failed at 5200 miles, just shut off, and wouldn't reset. Error code shows intermitent switch failure, so dealer replaced under warranty. Now I use it all the time, just to see if I can make it fail again. So far so good.

Mine started screwing up just before the 2 year warranty was up. Wouldn't work for hours after I washed it. Took it to the dealer and they "couldn't duplicate the problem", I asked them if they got it wet and tried it and you guessed it, they said no. It still happens. I have covered the hand controls when I washed it and it still did it. I am assuming it's somewhere under the tank. I haven't tried it after being caught in the rain as I don't want to use it when the roads wet.

For what it's worth, my 06 ultra brake lights quit working. Turns out there is a small relay in the fuse box that has 2 contacts for the brake lights and 2 for the cruise control. My cruise would still work, but the brake lights quit. While I was in there, my local hd mechanic suggested to remove all the fuses and pack the whole fusebox with dielectric grease. I've done that to every place the wiring plugs together. Now I don't wory about saltwater getting in and coroding anything. It is the same stuff you see on light bulb sockets. Just a preventative measure.

25K and the only problem is the idiot engineer that designed it to completely shut-off when it goes over 85 after cresting a hill. Its already programed to hold a speed within a few mph of what is set, so whats the big deal with not being able to hit 87 or so on a downhill?
