Default Bike is stalling what is wrong?

My bike has stalled three times in about a month. The first time I was coming to a stop at a light and it idled low and died. Black smoke shot out of the Heavy Breather when it died. It did the same thing again about two weeks later. Yesterday I was driving at about 45 mph and down shifted to 4th gear because the car in front of me slowed down. When I gave it gas it didn't respond because it died again. On all three times it started right back up with no check engine light coming on. It has been dyno tuned with the pipes and breather that I have. It is not due for a service for another thousand miles. The only thing that I can think of is that I went from the High Flow Stage I to the Heavy Breather. I am running the High Flow Stage I breather bolts with the Heavy Breather that I put on myself. I found out later that I need to use stock breather bolts. Could this be the issue. I ran the breather since November this way and didn't have any problems until now. Does anyone know what else it could be? It seems to be some kind of air or fuel problem I would think due to the bike starting right back up.

Anybody out there have this problem or know somebody that has? I just hope I'm not doing any damage to the motor. It just went out of warranty in May.

My '04 Heritage started doing that one day and it was a speed sensor. Is your speedometer acting up too? Anyway good luck.

I haven't noticed anything different with the speedometer.

Good luck with this issue. My 04 Ultra has been dying intermittently at idle for the entire time I've owned it. I bought it used with no warranty. After a long cruise and then when I come to idle at a stop, it idles so low it dies. It always starts right back with no diagnostic codes.
I have taken it to two different dealers, one of them twice. They both said they could not find any problem.
I have replaced all the sensors: temp, speed, crank position, etc that I have read causes this problem. A buddy of mine with an 04 Classic swapped fuel tanks and ECMs with me to eliminate those, still no fix. I currently have the idle air motor and throttle position sensor ordered. If those don't fix this, I suppose it could be an injector. I just don't know at this point.
If you find your problem, please post the fix.

The iac motor has been known to fail and produce those symptoms also, I have seen a couple of the pcIII's recently do this. I would first check you tps settings and then check the iac and go from there

Same issue with my 07 FLHRC. After some long running at highway speeds then downshifting and coming to stop seems to be only time it does it. Doesn't always and I 've grown use to rollin a little throttle as bike idles down, but still annoying.
Curious to know if you have any luck curing it.

I'd bet it is the PC III. Bounce this one off Jamie at Fuel Moto and see what he thinks.

My '07 SG had an episode similar to this the other day, the second since I've owned it. I made a routine short ride (3 mi.) in very hot (98°) weather, then upon re-starting to return home it started idling fast, at first about 1500 then down to 1200 by the time I pulled into the garage. After letting it idle for a minute or so it returned to normal idle, but it was rough and smelled like it was running a bit rich. It never died, although sounded like one cylinder might have been misfiring, and after maybe a minute of rough idling it returned to normal and has not had an issue since.

About 18 months ago it idled fast, around 1500, for about three days. It was still in warranty at the time and the dealer said to leave it alone and it would return to normal, which it did very shortly thereafter. It did not exhibit any rough idling on that occasion, though, and at neither time did it throw an error code.

I'd like to add that on more numerous occasions the bike will idle fast for a short period after making a short trip, allowing to cool down, and re-starting. At no time has this ever caused rough idling, though, and I've decided this is a quirk I can overlook since it causes no trouble.

My bike is older but only has 12K miles on it. My bike ran perfect until I took the rider safety course. I stalled there and then again on my way home. I was basically idling for 6 hours, so I'm thinking that I just filed out the plugs. I changed the plugs but did experiment with some different pipes (Hookers), which caused massive stalling. I put some Khrome Werks 3 1/2" on that are probably a notch above stock and haven't stalled since. I'm thinking about putting my SE's back on (what I bought it with) to see if it stalls again. My bike does have a PCII on it so it is very likely that it wasn't set right or my plugs just were bad.
