Default custom exaust questions

First off, I'm new to the forums. I just got my first harley 08' nightster and I HATE the stock exhaust. My buddy can weld and gave me the idea of taking of my slip ons and welding on pipes from their. I've read about doing the remap and such but from what I can tell won't create much of a problem. What I'm more worried about is the back pressure and keeping the motor cool. Would welding in a large washer inside create good back pressure or is this whole idea not a good idea?

it will work, but i would use something more substancial. when i made mine i went to autozone and got some of those pices of step down pipe (if ya know what i mean) like 2" steped down to 1 3/4" pipe or 1 3/4 to 1.5" pipe, cut that step part down and weld it in, worked great with mine. however, i'm carborated, your efi, i know on the newer bikes you have a o2 censor, not sure if that would jack up yr **** or not. make sure if your lookin for performance and style that your pipes are the same length and longer for highway speeds and shorter for the around the town hoppin around....obviously something in the middle for something in the middle, made mine about 44" long and they are good for highway and good for around town

I think for now I'm just going to cut out the baffles..That I don't think would do much but give me alittle bit more deeper sound which is what I'm lookn' for. I've been told I can use a whole saw and cut just outside of the whole inside the pipe n use a broom handle to wiggle it out..this is true correct?

this is probley a better idea IMO, you can get some slipons for pritty cheap and that way if ya mess them up yr still covered.

however....if you don't wanna spend any money i've heard a drill works nicely
