Cylinder 1 Popping out of carb under idle...suggestions?

Cylinder 1 Popping out of carb under idle...suggestions?

1968 FL Mutt continues to give me lip. The carb is not a 68, i'm still trying to match it up with the manual, but all i have to work with is that it says AMF Harley Davidson on the side. I'll look for more numbers. Perhaps take some pictures. I've reset the timing as close as possible to where it needs to be. And yes the sight glass sucks so I got a little oil mist with my goggles and light gun. Anyways, I've resealed the intake, O-rings with metal clamps and no leaks, checked by spraying behind with carb cleaner, old intake leak trick used on cars.

I adjusted the rods earlier, front was okay, rear were out of adjustment. But why would i get a backfire out of the intake to the carb in the front cylinder. Do I need to recheck the front rods again??? Please help with any suggestions.

You did your homework. I have to assume that your coil and plug wires are in good shape. Also, just for kicks,run a compression check to eliminate a bad valve. Sounds like you have a Keihen carb, and due to pollution restrictions, they were jetted very lean and will cause the sneeze back through the carb. (My wifes 06 Sporty with the Keihen needed rejetting due to lean conditions) Bump your main jet up two and try it.
