OK, I've searched a lot here, but I see some conflicting info. I bought the hands free smart alarm for my 08 Ultra. The dealer wants a rediculous 1.5 hour labor charge to install it. This is just the alarm, not the siren and it is the new one with the fob with no buttons on it.
Can anyone confirm for sure if I can install this myself and actually get the bike to start and run to go to the dealer and have them simply assign the fob to the security?
I have read some things indicating a MARRY procedure to the ECM that must be done or the bike wont start and the device may be rendered useless. There has been a link posted to a post that supposedly has this procedure, but there is nothing in the post but the following text:
Here is the proceedure to marry a new TSSM to your bike when you install it , otherwise it will not start/run.

I would really like to not spend over a hundred bucks just to have them plug in a simple device if the only thing I really need the digital technician for is to assign the fob.

Thanks for any help
The dealer has to activate the TSSM. If you install it yourself, you will not be able to start and ride the bike. I talked to my dealer and he told me the charge was a half hour to activate or a half hour to install and activate. Needless to say, I let them install it. SOunds like your dealer wants to charge an hour too much. I brought the TSSM module in with me. I did not buy from them. After talking with the service manager I decided to go ahead and get the siren as well. They installed all of it for the .5 hour charge.
