The ThunderMax with AutoTune was scheduled to be released at the beginning of the year for the DBW Touring bikes but I havn't heard a word. Anyone know the scoop?.............Rich
Rumor has it that they are trying to go wireless for the link up and have interference problems they are trying to solve. Personally I think the wireless idea blows, but that's just me.
Ron
I gotta agree. And I'd feel better if my laptop was hard wired to the unit anyway. What's the point? Hey,but then again, I was just thinking, it would be nice to turn on your computer, open the software and be automatically linked up to your bike, not a bad idea at all.
I like it....................Rich
I guesss it would make data logging easier than having that wire hookup nightmare on a softail, but look at the sales they are missing . Shoulda stayed with cable and pursued bluetooth in the background for later release. Keep in mind, this is a RUMOR. Then there's the added complexity of tbw, cruise, abs, and all that crap the old tmax ecm never had to contend with. I'm sure they want it as best as it can be before cutting it loose to the public.
Ron
I originally wanted the Thundermax but waited as long as I could and decided on the PCV with AT and am extemely happy with this setup. They have lost some sales especially with the new bikes.
Zipper's Thundermax folks were at Delmarva Bike Week.
I was walking by the trailer when I noticed a throttle-by-wire bike sitting with the seat off and a tmax ecm. So, I stopped and inquired. The rep said they are pretty much done and just are waiting for certification (from who?).
I asked about a WAG release date. He said he would be surprised if it was not shipping before Daytona 2010.
It will be at Daytona Biketoberfest for display testing and selective installation.
Official release is supposed to be Nov-Dec. At anyrate it is VERY close.
I here it's going to be well worth the wait!
I guess I'd rather have them get it right than get it quick.
