most people don't realize how out-of-balance their worn tires are so when they get new rubber they swear the tires are better.

dynabeads might help. i know for sure a quick rebalance will solve a lot of "problems".

if your bike is wandering into groves consider balancing. i hand balanced my tires a few weeks ago and the difference is night-and-day.

After 2 sets of Dunlops I switched to Avon Venoms. Dunlops are a harder ride and last longer than the Avon's but the Avon's hug the rode. Ride is much better.

Avon makes a sweet tire but the compounds are too soft for this rough Kentucky asphalt. I could never get any mileage out of them but their grip factor is huge.....

with a tread depth gauge....auto zone, etc,etc.
or take some clay, push into tire tread, then let it set up and then cut the mold in the deep slots and measure to the top of the high grooves that the tire made in the mold, that distance will give you your depth of tread left..
