Thanks! Goo Gone should be effective in getting rid of the tape residue, no?

So, you can remove the badges with dental floss?
Heat up the emblem with a hair dryer and it will peel right off with no residue... or, at least mine did.

my letter opener shaped things I peeled off my tank were a BITCH to remove. I heated it up with a heat gun and the badge peeled off but left the adhesive. Weird. But after that I had to rub the adhesive off with my thumb which was no easy task. Lets just say it didn't happen all in one day and I was asking myself questions like "what did I just do?"

But, as far as the goo-gone goes. I have used it on many things and highly recommend it. For the tank badges, at least what was holding MINE on, it ain't worth $hit, neither was bug & tar remover, acetone, and anything else I could find. Had to be rubbed off in wee bits.....but that is just my story. I would say if I had it to do over again I would probably get it a lot hotter, maybe I didn't get it hot enough or for long enough.

Yep. Just as the others have said, use a heat gun (hair dryer) and goo gone. Mine also took a bit of work, but just be patient with it. You do catch yourself at one point saying WTF did I just do? But it all works out.

Oh man, I hate those moments! LOL!
I wouldn't mind just getting ride of the letter-opener part, but I imagine I'd have to take the whole thing off to properly separate it.

hair dryer, dental floss or fishing string, goo-gone ; and most of all patience

Here's a pic of mine. It doesn't look as bad in person as is does in the pic. I used a razor (very carefully) to trim away the double sided tape between the HD Shield and 'letter opener'. Just take your time doing it. 2 beer job.

I like that a lot! Are all the letters individual and if so you want to come do mine? I was thinking of using the Street Glide emblems until now.
