Awhile back I was talking to a cop about the likelyhood of a bike being stolen where we live. He told me then that the majority of bikes reported stolen these days were folks trying to get out of the payment.
I know it's not hotel related but it made me wonder what the stats were these days on true theft vs arranged theft for insurance.

I'm down with the parking on ground floor, putting alarm and cover on it! The more crap they have to deal with the less likely they will attempt to F with it!

Probably the most important thing is to not stay in a bad part of town.

I have gone through most of the scenarios mentioned previously, from pulling it into the room (my first cross country trip), parking it by the office, and now, if possible getting a ground floor room and parking it in front of my room with it locked. With my older bikes I put a padlock on the fork lock and locked the ignition. With my '07 I lock the ignition, fork, and set the alarm.

Once you go to a rally like Sturgis you will pretty much quit being nervous about leaving your bike parked.

Never had any of my bikes bothered.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah I figure I'll try and find a place in a good part of town (hard when your on a budget though, lol) and try and park it so the night guy can watch it. If Im feelin real nervous then I'll try and wheel it in the room. Its a sporty with zbars, so the its pretty skinny, dont think I'll have a problem gettin it in the doorway

Non HD cover and RoadLok (HD Forum Sponsor) http://roadlok.com/ for the front wheel, also use your fork lock. Pay up your insurance and you'll be fine!!!

That is way too funny Ron. We either park in front of the windows of the check-in area and lock up or right in front of the door and lock up!

Right outside the door, if not in the room or close to the lobby and under the awning. Or just skid into the lobby, get off the bike, turn to the desk person and say "keep it eye on it babe" wink and walk away.

Get yourself a god cable lock. Put it through both bikes and around the support column for the second floor walkway or stairs. Seen a few bikes get stolen from valet parking while working in Vegas.
Until I got my SG I too used to put it in my room. I don't think the doors are wide enough for the batwing.

Buy a newspaper out of the machine and put it down before wheeling the bike into the room. There is always a newspaper machine at the hotel.
