A full out kit like this will run you between $1500-$1600 bucks for the equipment including the head unit and iPod. The amplifier can also run off the stock Harley head unit so eliminating the Pioneer head and the iPod would drop prices to around $1000. I know Biketronics has a smaller UcD Class amp rated at 100w x2 that will run the Hogtunes speakers nicely and then keeps it between $500 and $700 depending whether you want one pair of speakers running, or two? Call them up

The Biketronics RetroRadio kit I purchased for my '08 FLHT included a Sony CDX-M50iP Marine head unit, Biketronics controller, and a pair of Hogtunes speakers. This kit cost me $520 including shipping. If you choose a more basic head unit, you can actually put together a kit that will cost you under $500. Of course, as already shown, you can spend as much or as little as you want (or need).

Because I chose a Sony head unit to go with my Biketronics kit, all the handlebar stereo controls function including AVC (automatic volume control), a feature I consider essential on relatively loud motorcycles like ours. I set the volume to a nice, acceptable volume at idle and forget it. When I get into the throttle, the stereo's volume keeps up with the engine/exhaust noise.

These systems look and sound great. I'm only pushing two speakers on my FLHT which might be the difference, but my system sounds great even without the addition of an amp. I can't imagine what the sound quality would be like if I added one, but it must be thrilling for those using one.

I just ordered the newly released Titan XL 6.5" speaker upgrades from Biketronics for $199/pair. They fit in the 5.25" pods in my fairing. If I still want more, I'll add their 2 channel amp for $399. I'm hoping the upgrade will enable me to turn it up louder without distortion. And without having to buy an amp....

skydoc, what kind of results did you get with the bazooka setup. I currently have J&M speakers on my roadglide and am less than satisfied. I am looking for a setup that is clear and can be heard above wind and pipe noises.
