Thanks Mascman, great how to. I had a good idea of what was going on in there but with the photos it all makes sense now. Nice paint job btw.

is there a filtering element there somewhere?
something that should be cleaned/maintained?

there's a filter inside the fuel pump.
should be detailed in the service manual.
i think it's a 15K mile replacement item - but don't remember off hand.
if you have things taken apart to this point - it's probably a good time to deal with it.

I believe it's on the bottom right of this pic:

The pics don't do the colors in the tank justice...may have to wait untill it's complete to roll it outside in the sunlight.

To all that get some use out of the How-TO...you are welcome and I'm glad to help out. That's why we're here!

It pulls straight out.. don't twist it as you'll mar the plastic lense. Also on an '06 Street Bob, the wires go through a tube & come out under the tank to a connector. The pins have to be removed from the connector before you can pull the wires out through the tube as the connector is larger than the tube diameter. I just cut the wires an inch or so from the connector & resoldered & shrink tubed it back together.

You did what?!? Isn't that the point of having the connectors? It takes longer to cut/splice/wrap than it would to disconnect it the right way...
