I have read about the 2008 cruise control problem that caused the death of a club president. Having said that...
A friend and I were enjoying a week long ride in the Smoky Mountains and on the way home riding the Blue Ridge Parkway he ran off the road and skinned up the 09 SG. Lucky for him he has a bruise or two but is for the most part ok. Bike has some minor damage and will trailer it home as the front brake rotor may be damaged as far as runout. When I back tracked to see where he was, to my horror he was off the side of the road. He said the bike just, "Picked up speed in the corner." After having a day or two to think it out, he is pretty certain the cruise "resumed" by itself. I figured he may have activated the rear ABS and maybe panicked, but don't know as I was in he lead at the time and did not see anything...
My question: Has any one of you had an issue with a 2008 or 2009 cruise control deciding to "resume" on its own?
Thanks in advance for any and all comments...Please save the pull in the clutch, hit the kill switch, etc. comments. We are trying to find out if there are other bikes that exhibit this behavior relative to the cruise control.
Ride safe....

no problem with my cruise on my 08 either, although it will kick out if i hit a bump a bit hard. and that's good cause i'm sure it's a safety issue that kicks the cruise off if you hit a bump, or another object. mine works fantastic and i use it very often.
Use mine all the time with no problem. I will keep you up to speed in the twisties ,when you should be slowing down, so be careful. You have to know your monster and keep it under control or it will kill your a$$.
Check the above threads ...
There were some issues of runaways. Although easy to shut off if it happened, you could wreck easy if it happened in one of the BR curves. I make sure the cruise switch is OFF unless I'm on the interstate.
I use it with no problems. I figure that some are accidentally hitting the resume and speeding up.
You are riding along listening to the radio and messing with the control on the handlebar and hit the resume. I am not saying this is what happened to your buddy but it could have been.
