Turned on since the day I bought my '08. Works well, not sure why you would shut it off, it's automatic and a good warning system to tell you it is frickin' hot. Had it come in a few times in Chicago during stopped traffic on a high heat day, also at the 105th in traffic. It only affects the bike if it is at dead idle, move the throttle and you are back on two cylinders as if it wasn't engaged. They call it parade mode, but it only comes on if you are at a dead idle, move with a little throttle, it's not there anymore.

I'm not sure of the current status for the 07s, or if it was ever available for "consumer" bikes before then, but in 07 it was offered as a one-time free download to always enable it, with the one-time free offer of removing the feature again. Thereafter there would be a charge each time it was either enabled or disabled.

You are correct, the EITMS feature was offered in 2007.
it is a download only for the 07s. if you have it done, it does not give you the ability to enable/disable. it will kick in, if your at idle, and the temp reaches a certain point.
for 07 you can have it enabled once during the warranty period. and disabled once during that period also.
