went back to dealer 3 times was told they couldn't hear it, so i offered to pay for the dyno time. guess what the said no.go figure. So what did they say to you after they heard it on your bike?
Besides the new Comp there are several other interesting \\; "upgrades" \\;listed \\; under Screamin Eagle that may really be addressing long standing problems.
The heavy duty "Screamin Eagle Lefty Bearing" and the "Screamin Eagle Timken Bearing Sleeve" which I saw in a Mag as being from Harley's main high performance supplier, Jims, are a couple. As is the "Screamin Eagle Billet Cam Support Plate"
This is Harley's way of addressing design shortcommings. Offer them as high performance enhancements.

Yup I caught those too and am planning on adding these items to my bike.
Overall my 07 FXSTC runs great with only a little 5th gear whine below 45mph. But I'm getting tired of the rifle shot bang from the compensator when I startup. So I'm interested in the new compensator.
I definitely don't want to start another "at what speed/rpm do you shift" discussion but I've gotta ask. You're in 5th gear at or below 45mph? Really?
 \\;
I'm guessing that translates into about 1700 RPMs
Based on what I've read here, the Softails don't have near the problems that the Baggers do.
When the bike was totally stock, if I'm just putting around, shifting on the 10's worked fine. 2nd at 20mph, 3rd at 30, 4th at 40, etc. Above 50mph the 5th gear whine went away. At 60mph 6th gear was good.
Then I bolted on the SE air filter, check the little picture to the left. After the ECM got used to it, the bike ran even smoother and the 5th gear threshold dropped to 45. \\; If I'm getting on it however, 1st is good to 45mph.
I agree. Doesn't appear the softails have been as noisy as the FLHs. Might be the 100+ weight difference. After 2 years of reading on this forum that you should never shift much short of 3000 RPMs I had to ask the question. Thanks for the info.
The starter bang,tearing off teeth issue has died down.Head cc difference,down in the hole spec even on same bike between each cyl on same bike has been found different.Could be causing what you spoke of.The 103 kit seemed to correct some of this at least down in hole specs.
Maybe some of the head guys will post what they have seen cc wise differences.HD most likely tightened build specs during model runs.Cant stress a good tune for your bike,both cylinders \\;even if basically stock seems to help greatly.
