Default CV jetting revisited

I have read through the Twin-Cam CV rejetting suggestions here, but have just read an article in "American Rider" (August 2008) that contradicts some.
&nbsp\\;
Joe "The Wizard" Minton's recommendations for rejetting to offset low restriction mufflers and air filter are:
... the stock slow jet is the right one
... the stock main jet works well with open mufflers and air filters
... change the jet needle to one from an early 1988 Sportster because
&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; shimming up the stock jet needle does not richen air/fuel mix at cruising speed
... adjust idle mixture screw
&nbsp\\;
He claims that most rejetting and jet needle shimming result in poorly tuned carbs and his specific changes are backed by the equipment needed to prove it.
&nbsp\\;
I've decided to give his suggestions a try, but he did not give the P/N of the early 1988 Sportster jet needle. Anyone know the correct P/N?
Anyone done it this way?&nbsp\\; How does it run now?
&nbsp\\;
Thanks,
&nbsp\\;
Ed

Default RE: CV jetting revisited

Harley p#27094-88 it is a&nbsp\\;#N65C needle. I've just put this in a setup I'm working on and it worked well for me. Very noticiable down low through mid&nbsp\\;and regained some mpg from previous. If you go the American rider website and look through some old articles there is some more that mention this setup also.
