Default SE Pro Super Tuner Kit

So&nbsp\\; I had exhuast and heavy breather and sert installed at dealer.&nbsp\\; Bike sounds great and run good as far as I can tell.&nbsp\\; they gave me the sert and cd, which they should have I paid for it.&nbsp\\; They said they put a generic map in there until I get 1000 miles, then for me to bring it back for a new map.&nbsp\\; So after they remap at 1000 miles what do I do with the sert.&nbsp\\; Can I transfer my data from my bike to laptop.&nbsp\\; How do I tell what the dealer did?&nbsp\\; Or is just for when I want to change something I have to load a new map to my bike.&nbsp\\; I guess it comes down to if I like the way my dealer did the map I just have a expensive piece of plastic in my garage.
Hope some of this make sense
Thanks

First off, WELCOME ABOARD... Please take a moment to post an intro in the NEW MEMBERS SECTION....
&nbsp\\;
As far as your tune goes, you should ask for a TRUE COPY of the Final tune...
&nbsp\\;
Supply the tuner with a Thumb Drive so they can transfer the tuning file to it...
&nbsp\\;
If they give you any grief, well, that is between you and the shop... But if they are a reputable shop, there should be no problems....
&nbsp\\;

The little cheap plastic box you paid $500 for is the VCI. It translates between the languages of the computer and ecm. It also has limited storage on it allowing you to log data while you ride without carrying a laptop along. You can also log directly onto the computer or simply monitor the bike with the laptop connected without recording. The latter is used primarily while tuning on a dyno where the current values is all that matters. Recording is primarily used for road tests where you shouldn't be playing watching a laptop screen while riding.
&nbsp\\;
The device is used primarily for programming the ecm, i.e. tuning. It comes with a number of calibration files. The one they loaded on your bike is one of them. When they dyno tune your bike they will likely start with that calibration and then adjust it based upon what they see on the dyno. If you get that file from them then you can see just what they changed rather than just saying it was dyno tuned whatever that means. Take the time to understand the tuning parameters and the logged data and you should be able to see the differance in the logs due to the tuning. Particularly knowing the differance in the calibrations.
&nbsp\\;
You can also make changes to the calibration while retaining the original to return to if you encounter unexpected problems. Not something to do after having it dyno tuned except, perhaps, to understand better what the parameters do before returning to the dyno tune calibration. Longer term your bike may need tuned as parts wear, deposits build up and fuel quality changes. Since you have the sest you will have the option of correcting some of that yourself.

With the dyno if you get the file you can download WinPEP from Dynojet to load and view the file. That's assuming they are using a dynojet which is a good assumption, but you should ask them the make and model of the dyno.
