I bought a 98 Dyna Wide Glide that has been sitting for 2 years. I was wondering if anyone has a checklist or a good list of what needs to be checked when you try to bring a bike back to life? The following is a list of what I will be doing or have done already:
Changed the drive belt
TIghtened the primary chain
Replaced all fluids
Replaced most of the hoses
TIghtened all the bolts/screws/nuts that I could tighten
CHecked the tires
Rebuilt the carb
Installed a new air filter kit

She runs, but it's pretty rough!!! Cleaning/rebuilding the carb helped out the most. If making sure it runs is the final test then I'm happy with that. I tested the bike after replacing the drive belt by going down the interstate at 100 mph ( I live in England so I can do that leagally) and the rear wheel didn't fall off, so I am assuming that everything is ok there.
HA, yeah I guess that the drive belt is good............

I've lived in Europe for 7 years now and I have gotten spoiled with the lack of speed limits. I don't know what I'm going to do when I am forced to ride in the U.S. I guess I will have to find some other way to test out the bike.
