Honestly, with your ridding style, I would save your money. JMO, but this is only really necessary if you push things some in the twisties.

How much difference will it make on an Ultra? I am a pretty straight up rider and don't take corners too hard and fast but have felt some instability at times.

Hey Thane. Tell everyone here on the forum about our ride last week at the Hell's Canyon Rally. Me, you, and Greg all have the TWR missing link stabilizer kit on our bikes. Did we ride our bikes pretty hard in the twisties? Were we getting into the corners pretty deep?
Why yes we were. I was riding in the #2 or #3 spot most of the time so I could see pretty well \\;how the bikes were taking to corners. We were carving them up pretty well for some baggers and I must say that the TWR made a world of difference.

Well, I do, for one. Two of my riding buddies own BMW's and they often engage in a spirited riding style. Both are mature, safe, and experienced riders, but do push it in the twisties a bit at times. The SG does a good job of keeping up, considering it obviously isn't designed around the same parameters as a sport-touring bike. The Ride Str8 eliminated the "waggle" in the sweepers, which I never considered to be unsafe but gave an uneasy feeling. To me the $460 spent on the Ride Str8 was worth it, although the TWR is considerably less and functionally identical. These were not available last year at this time when I bought the Ride Str8.
Whether or not you need a stabilizer is based on if you have ever had a queazy feeling in corners, and whether or not it is worth $300-450 to get rid of it. It was for me.
I then read about true track and I understand that it is for reducing wobble at high speeds and assists in the corners.
These devices have nothing to do with high speed wobble. That is a totally different issue.
The high speed wobble may be a different issue but the twr missing link solved it for me. My ultra is as solid at 110 as it is at 40 mph
I went with the twr because I am planning on adding a center stand later on.
TWR for me and high speed wobble is the issue.Bike handles better overall.Im not a speed racer but can definately tell a differance in the twistys.Bought TWR due to forum price and fact I have a centerstand which \\; eliminates some brands.

I don't care how hard or gentle you ride, you will feel a noticeable improvement in handling with a stabilizer. \\; Harley dresser frames with rubber mounts simply have some play that doesn't need to be there. \\; They feel soft in any kind of turn. \\; Adding the TWR removed the soft feel. \\; Even at city traffic speeds the bike feels better/more stable. \\; The quick turn into traffic I used to pass up because the bike didn't feel solid is now easily accomplished. \\; U turns are once again crisp &\\; positive. \\; There's not anything you can do or buy for your motorcycle that will have a more positive effect.
