I know I know.....I just have to get the cash and explain it to the ole lady.... Hey...You still gonna change over to the 25 deg injectors, or hold off and see how it plays out?
I didn't tell the OL until after it came. I got "the look", but then told her about the EPA, blah, blah, blah... anyways, she loves the bike more than I do, so I explained that running lean could make it run too hot and might hurt it. After that, everything was cool.. [8D]
My dealer is supposed to be looking into getting me the new injectors. They said they had to get approval and they'd call me by next friday. I doubt they'll ever call and I'm not gonna worry about it. If it turns out that other people love the new injectors, I'll just buy some this summer. You can get them from Zanottis for $57 each.
That sounds really cool. I wish I knew enough about bikes to do that kinda stuff myself instead of having to go the stealer all the time.
Only one way to learn!... Get in there and try it. Read as much as possible, get a service manual, read the instructions, then read them again. When you get stuck, ask for help on this forum. Some of the best people are here and they'll do all they can for you. If worse comes to worse, the dealer can always fix it.
Apparently i have a newer version of the sert (G) hence the 141NX002. I opened it and compared it to the 001 cal and it looks like the moco did some additional tweaking to the 002 cal including the closed loop bias table.
To play it safe, i am reloading the 002 canned map until i have more confidence in what i'm doing. someone over in the "SERT - need one" thread in the ECM/electronics category chimed in and said what i did may have serious consequences by changing the AFR alone and nothing else
Back to the drawing board.. Maybe the tweaked 002 map is more rich than the 001. I will have to do a detailed comparison and let you know....
Hey, I'm in the process of doing the exact same thing right now. I've got the SERT loaded and trying different tuning variables, I'm not yet running aftermarket exhaust so the standard "141NX001-A0.MT6" works pretty good. The only thing I did was lower the idle rpm at temp, this in combination to the SE1 AC works pretty good.
I did the same thing by raising MAP (kpa) and I didn't feel any increase in performance whatsoever, however when I pulled the plugs I could tell the bike had richened significatly but actually running too rich for the stock exhaust. I'm lowering the setting to half of the increase and we'll see what that does.
I'm told my exhaust will be here in the next couple of weeks, so at that time I'll be starting all over.
Good to hear someone else jumping into the same battle..........Good Luck and keep updates posted...
Jamie,
did you ever get my emails?? I never heard back from you. I hope you were able to open them. I re-loaded the canned stage 1 map on the bike today to play it safe. It runs just as well really. My old map with the 13.9 AFR was killing my mileage and was apperently only a small piece of the puzzle. VE, spark and bias adjustments need to be done as well for a true tune which really needs a dyno run to perform. I will save up for that or just get with you once you feel you have it nailed with your methodical trial & error.
We only have 1 dyno in town which translates to long waiting list and big bucks....
Thanks for all your efforts, your helping and educating many
You really have the right idea. I am, and I think you are as well, one of those folks that wants to know exactly what is going on with your bike. Even if someone else does the work I want to know what, how and why. To me it is part of the mystic of owning a bike. Cars have gotten so complex you have trouble enjoying them at this level.
I am considering using the Power Commander system because it allows me to drop the O2 sensor and use any pipes that are out there instead of being tied to bung pipes.
Have you Dyna'd the bike. I understand that you lose between 6-8 hp on any pipes that fall short of the rear axil. Have you noticed this? My local shop "Hog Wild" In Villa Rica is reccomending using 2 into 1 pipes or at least using pipes htat have a cross over chamber. Any reccomendations?
Sounds like your on a winner there. I'm dialing in from Australia and keen to get hold of SERT. Any info you can supply would be appreciated. I was of the oppion that power commander can do the same thing running the MAPS PCIII. Any thoughts.
I'm glad that Jamie is helping all '06 owners but I'm a little bummed about how the actual fuel maps are changed with the sert on the closed loop system. Still, it is a fix that will work once these values and their effect on the mixture is identified.
