Default Replacing the enricher cable

Ok, the friggin plastic broke on the enricher. Not the ****, but where everything screws on. Got the new cable for $12. The service manual says to remove the carb to replace it. WTF?!
There's gotta be an easier way! Anyone replaced one before?

I replaced it on a 1990 fxr (evo). And yes, I pulled the carb to do it. But neither pulling the carb nor replacing the cable was hard.

Thanks, BG. I was just hoping to avoid having to disconnect the cruise. That was a beotch installing the 'E' clip to begin with when we did the installation.

I don;t know if this'll help you at all, but I have my carb off my bike right now, so I took some close-up shots of the enrichener and where/how it attaches to the carb.

You can check em out HERE

Cheers!

Thanks, Clammy! Yep, those helped, since I haven't taken it off yet. Too friggin cold. We have a carport with an attached 10X25 shed. That's where I keep her. Hoping it'll warm up enough to work on her this weekend.
Do you have any idea how the cable attaches inside?

Sorry, I've never removed it, but I believe the process is described in the shop manual. I'll check when I get home tonight.

Cheers!

The carb needs to come off. The threads are fine and the plastic is soft real easy to cross-thread. After you get it off you will see a brass enrichener on the end. It is held in place by the spring. Slide the spring back and take the enrichener off the ball. You will need the spring and enrichener for thew new cable, reverse the process to assemble. Be sure you have the cable all the way in or your bike will run rich.
