I have never noticed this before. It is just a quick stutter when you twist the throttle, but the bike doesn't stall. It will quickly catch on and go right along. Guess I'll give it a while and see if things change or get worse. It is definitely EXACTLY like a carbed motor that you jack the throttle on before it warms up. A slight "chuggg" and then all's OK.
Mine also does it and the dealer tells me it's normal! I have a PCIII and it still has not corrected the lag! The other thing I notice is the bike seems to feel like it is dragging at lower speeds. I am so pissed with this thing is isn't even funny. The dealer says he can make it better with removing the PCIIIaddinga SERT and 3 hours of dyno time at the tune of $711.00. The Harley game is getting old and I have been at it for thirty years!

I posted this same issue at another Sporty forum, and got a bunch of folks with the same situation....so I guess it IS normal. You'd think that EFI would stop this, but maybe it's not the "same" as the EFI on my truck???
SmokeyGold, sorry to hear about your troubles. Ain't nothing worse than a toy that don't work right. I have been there...done that. Not any fun.
Thumper26,...........I rarely disagree with you on any posts because you are right. I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one however. The fuel injection sensor should be picking up the temp and adjusting its mixture to the enviornmentwith an allowance for being started cold. The type of hesitation being described sounds faulty.
Respectfully accepted and no offense taken. You are, of course, correct about the EFI sensors - it does sound like they are not doing their job, so I stand corrected. I was just blown away that doing the Stage 1 on my bike made such a vast improvement in my warm up times- in all temperatures. Onmy carbed bike, the only "sensor adjustment" in cooler weather is the choke ****, controlled by the automatic sensors in my head and my left hand...

As bigtop1 and others have pointed out in this post, it is NOT normal. It may be endemic to the '07 Sportster because of a base problem with the design or canned software load, and that makes it common but not normal. Owners of 2007 Sportsters should not have to tolerate the issues described here. Let's hope it's a first-year"bug" that H-D will resolve shortly, for all of the '07 Sporty owners.

Hahahah. PCIII CAUSED my throttle lag. I'm toying with the accelerator pump utility that you can download on their site, though. I also just got my SE A/C installed so I'm 100% running the correct map. I actually JUST got done so I'm waiting for my girlfriend to get home then I'm gonna go hop on it.
I was experienceing some stumbleing on cold mornings, but I thought that because the bike was in a warm garage, then suddenly taking it out into the cold air, this stumbleing was normal.
I called my dealer and told him what it was doing, and I heard about fuel pump issues, he said to bring it in for a pump up grade which I did and no more stumbleing on cold starts.
I'm glad I'm not the only one!!! My bike tries to stall 3 times before it finally runs right at a cold start. When I was in Arkansas, it stalled 3 times. WTF???
