Default I'm Back - 18 Day Road Trip, 3850 miles and 15 States, Pics included

My wife, I and another couple took a trip that was just amazing, gone 18 days through 15 states. Bike performed flawlessly and overall averaged 40.15 mpg for the trip that spent most of the time up and down the mountains in extremely hot weather. Had the bike wieghed, 1395 lbs. with me and the wife abaord and full travel gear. Did wear out a back tire sooner than expected and had to have one installed half way through the trip.(It is hell on a tire with all that weight and still scraping the boards!)
States were Oh (16 if you include riding the full length of Ohio twice), WV, Va, Md, Pa, NC, SC, Ga, Al, Ms, Ar, Mo, Il, In, Ky, Tn.

It was HOT the whole trip with temps being 105 in SC, 103 in NC, 105 in Al and 108 in Ms and Ar. Only rained once the entire trip for a grand total of twenty minutes when we were on our way to ride the Dragon.

Below are some pictures:

Grandfather Mtn - by far the toughest road I have ever ridden to get to the top, never got out of 1st gear for the entie 2-1/2 mile climb to the top. Tightest switshbacks I have encountered. Not sure if I would want to do it again with a fully loaded tourer and two up.

Fire Station No.1 - The best barbeque we had the entire trip in Tupelo Ms. Worth the trip just have eaten there.

Waterfalls we found on Rt. 276 while traveling from SC back into NC

Everybody talks about Natural Bridge, Virginia. We found one in Alabama!

The wife and I in downtown Spartanburg, SC after visiting some friends that have moved from Ohio.

Furthest Point South

Furthest Point West (well, maybe Ar was a bit further west, but who's measuring)

Way too much to describe, and way too many things done to tell here but what a trip!

(PS, of course we had a few beers in the evening)
