Default 103ci SE ST Legal Big Bore upgrade

The Stage I kit increases the Bore from 96ci to 103ci. The Stage II kit increases the Bore the same amount but adds the SE 255 Cam kit (25638-07). What does the Cam kit add to my performance upgrade? I have always been told that inches are important -or -size matters. But the Cam kit isn't adding inches or size -so what does it add to the performance?

First off... Welcome Aboard... Please take a moment and post an intro in the NEW MEMBERS SECTION at your earliest convenience.....

The upgrade of the cams is important as it modifies the duration (Time) that the valves for the intake and exhaust are open or closed, to assist in getting more Fuel/Air mix intoand Spent gas' out of the combustion chamber....

Additionally, it modifies the SPECIFIC point of engine rotation (Degrees) when they are opening and closing...

By adding the SE 255 cams to your 103 kit, you will have a great deal better bottom end torque, as well as higher HP numbers when out on the interstate.....

Torque gets you moving.....

Horsepower makes you move faster.....

No offence but the SE 255 are weak. I want to do the same SE 103 kit but the cams I will not use.

What cams would you use for low end torque?

No Scheitt...... But the original question was in reference to the SE 255's.....

For that matter, why stick with a set of Flat-tops and stock heads with a wimpy and restrictive induction module??????

Those cams are a bolt in and the ECM configuration are PURPOSE DESIGNED to work with those specific components, without needing to revamp the valve train, add on a Fuel management system, etc....

Mods to "Kits" require very specific, and sometimes prohibitive measures that impact on durability, rideability, tunability and most importantly owner confidence....

There are other cams that are better choices, but if warranty is a concern you should be able to find a dealership that will allow you to stay under warranty or at least extended warranty so long as they do the work and you stick to the kit straight out of the manual. In my case they did the heads too.

I guess if something goes wrong we'll find out whether they are actually going to stand behind it as they told me.

Has anyone added the stage 1, 103 kit ( without cams) and what did it do for you please?
Say stage 1 , 103 kit, a good air intake, free flow exhaust & SERT. would it be worth it?
I am sure it would be a mild & reliable. Maybe make 75-80HP & 85-95TQ? anybody done this yet?

The 103 can be done with no kit to 07's TC96 by bore the cyl and new pistons, the motor is already stroked and all......The air, pipes and EFI are almost always done even if no 103 kit is.

I know it is just a bolt in on the 07's 08's, I wanted to know how much the 7 extra cubes adds to the stock TQ or HP?
