Looks like HD is going to screw it's 07 buyers, take a look at their site for the 08 model specs. Apparently they've done something to improve the drive-line noise, calling it a new (IDS) Isolated Drive System, i.e. supposedly improves ride quality by reducing drive-line noise. Gee, where do you think they got the hint? The 08 tour models also get a 6 gallon fuel tank. It appears NOW that all ofus who bought the 07's were just test riding for MOCO, at our ownexpense. I bet you don't hear the clatter this year!
So Harley found a fix that meets EPA. It does a better job of isolateing the galloping motor. Probably fixes the clatter but doesnt fix the Hot ,lean, off time, galloping motor. TUNE THE MOTOR, and were it my bike I might add the new comp also.
07 black ultra, Your right the V Rod motor is fast comming, but the moco is going to milk the Twin Cam as long as possible.
Maybe just maybe now that the cat is out of the bag they will pony up? I am not a bettin man though and if I was I would put my money on them NOT stepping up for us 07 owners. I tuned mine with A/C, pipes, and a PCIII and it is tons better as far as the clatter goes, but it is still there some... as far as the whine in 5, I have been using AMSOIL(75-140) severe gear since October roughly and the tranny is just a little louder in 5th... there is no whine. 6000 miles turned today on the King. I was considering trading my King in on a 06 Ultra with <4000 miles, cept I just dropped $$$ at the INDYfor 5000 service and my apes AND saw what my trade-in allowance would be. KMA, I aint taking that kinda loss.
