My friend melted a piece of his rain suit on one of his pipes during a long ride last week.
He was looking for techniques to remove the melted plastic, and I came accross several posts that suggest easy-off oven cleaner. He tried this, and it did work (almost) - most of the plastic came off (some bits still left). But it also caused some discoloration of the chrome -gave it little spots that look "yellow" or "copper" colored.
Anyone have any experience with this? Is the discoloration permanent, or can it be removed?
I can only say i used easy off to remove some hand striping from my tank and fender per 2 painters advice. however, what i was removing was not clear coated over. worked great . I dunno about chrome though.
