What is your setup?? Pipes?? A/c??
I know you have a PCIII !
I was debating whether or not to perform the download. Does the PCIII have to be removed then reinstalled ??
I have Big Radius, Big Sucker, PCIII
And does anyone know what the download actually changes ?? I had a dealer tell me its only for rider who lugs in 6th gear. This contradicts what I have read here.
One thing for sure once you install it it will cost $$ to go back!!
Had the download done on my 07 FLHTCU and it made a nice improvement. I can't say it made the engine run any cooler yet to soon to tell. First impresion, I would get the download.
I have read these threads and I think I am more confused. I have an 07 Night Train, I was told at my dealer that if I am putting on aftermarket pipes and PCIII, dont get the download done. I do not have 100% faith in any dealer. I ordered Samson street sweepers, Big sucker, and PCIII. Should I have it done or not, and if so, before I install the PC or after. Im not sure my dealer will touch my bike if I put the PC and pipes on it, they said it will "VOID" the warranty.
if your bike is on S.B0903 list then have it done. The canned PC111 maps dont mess w/timing over stock setup.if you have a custom map or bike that was dynoed and changed the ignition settings from stock setup then you may not need it.Plug your computer in bike and check your PC111 ignition readings.be sure to double check zero throttle setting after new HD download is done.
I just had the recall done to my Standard today. It seemed to run a little smoother, but to me it seemed to take longer to idle down, but it could just be my imagination. The service writer asked me once they finished the recall if the bike had been running ok. I told him yes and asked why. He said that when you put the aftermarket exhaust and air cleaner on, you need to get the "download" from them. I then told them that I had the PCIII and he said, "Oh, you should be ok then" Just seems a little wierd that the techician who advised the service writer didn't notice the PCIII even though he had to unplug it it to do the recall.?
I am not the brighhtest bul, but (OK no comments)...
Seems to me the PC takes the outputs from the ECM and then changes them when sending to the fuel module. The SERT reprograms the ECM.
If the above is true, what difference does it make to have the download done of you are using the PC. I had mine done because I will not repipe and AC until the spring. I do think it runs smoother. Not sure what it does to the mileage.
