I've been following this thread closely but I'm not sure my feeble brain has understood yet.
I'm purely stock except for Rush slip ons with 2" baffles. If I get this "recall" done now and next month I install a stage I A/C & SERT (plus a stage I download & tune of course) I will have wasted this trip to the dealer for the "recall" since it will be over written by the stage I download?
Is it true that once you've downloaded a new "MAP" with the SERT, there's no provision for going back to the stock map if you ever wanted to?
I went to my local dealership today (where I purchased the bike) and they wrote up a ticket and took it to the back. A few minutes later, I saw the service manager had gathered all the techs and I overheard him telling them his instructions were to not perform the upgrade until the middle of Dec. They brought the bike back around and told me that "they didn't have the needed software at this point in time and they would call me middle of the month".
I'm not experiencing any ping or lugging, so I'm in no great hurry to get the service done.
i have posted under --touring --and here goes a brief repeat.
had the recall done on my pure stock 2007 street glide. with 1,600 miles .
before recall bike ran great with zero and i mean zero vibrations from iddle (where it does vibrate a lot ) to 2,000 rpm and on.
bike felt great and returned 40 mpg.(this latter is a key for what follows )
after recall, and i now have about 2,600 miles , the idle to 2,000 rpm is slower ,before it just came ,now you have to give it throttle and you can hear the pulsation of the motor.AND IT VIBRATES . after 2,000 rpm's it is smoother but eventually the vibes come back.REMEMBER ,i had zero vibes before recall.
and i now get 46. 5 mpg
thus, they recalibrated the fuel delivery and the bike runs leaner, and they have ,i assume retarded the ignition.
in 80 degree weather and stop and go traffic my oil temp. reads 259 degrees .
I got the 0903D yesterday...I left my PCIII on. It runs fine afterwards. No problems. I'll be curious after the weather warms up to see if my ping is gone without retarding my timing with my PC III
It was about 34 here when mine was done yesterday...actually had flurries on my way home. Probably did about 35 mi after the upgrade and it seemed to run fine.
