Now, you wanna know something really funny.... all of the PC III's that were installed will need to come off, so the ECM can be updated with the proper flash, or it can't be installed... Inherent flaw with the PC III.... Prevents System Information from being processed, but engine data gets through.... Hmmmmmm?????
Before you remove your PCIII, you might want to read gunrunners's post!!!

I had download done this afternoon and throttle response is much better, maybe alittle better vibration wise but it made my bikes clatter worse. At 80 mph at 2800rpm in 60 degree weather at best with the highest octane At the pumps it pings like mad.It will do it at lwr speeds and rpms but at this 2800 in 6th gear it isnt considered lugging.I was hoping for a miracle or at least an improvement but it failed miserably in my bike.My noise was always apparent at hwy speeds and it still is.Called HDs C/S to report this and was told they will call back. Not expecting anything soon since they have done NOTHING so far to help my cause.I wonder what their new phrase will be now. This is the WORST bike I have ever owned and Im sorry I bought it.

Just sharing some personal experience....

Mine (07 FLHTC) pinged. I added the SE air, slip ons and PCIII usb. I loaded an appropriate map and ended up modifying it. I called power commander about the ping and ended up going into the ignition table and changing the following...

at 100 throttle I backed the 4s down to "0"
at 40, 60, and 80 throttle from 2500- 6000 RPM I changed the "0"s to -2.
My ping is all but gone.

Best of luck.

I had my 07 ultra reprogrammed today and the results are excellent. I must be lucky as this bike runs nice and 5th gear whines quietly. 2400 miles so far

HDs C/S returned my call and I told them how my bike is acting since download,I told her that i was hoping for better results and that I didnt want this bike ending up like some with oil pump woes. She said they havent heard of anything else happening but mechanical things do happen, which I agreed. This download has been a mixed bag of results so far.It seems it helps most bike, some owners see very little change, its made one good bike bad,and in my case made a bad bike worse.Dsanchezs findings may help some. Thanks for info.

Yes I had them download a 103 map into my stock '07. It really helped cool the bike down. It quit detonation, and ran remarkably. It made the ECM believe it had 103 pistons to feed, which made it give a better air/fuel ratio. I now needed more POWER so I then added Kerker pipes, Arlen Ness Big Sucker A/C, and a PC111 downloaded by Jamie at fuel moto. This increased HP by 9 and Tq by 10. I had the 0903 flashed in today, and smoothed the motor out alittle. My idle went from 11k to 9k, and motor does not vibrate as bad. I did not have time to ride it but for 40 miles so if the rain holds off I'll try to put some miles on my bike in the next few days, and see how she acts.

have an 07 roadking with 7,000 mi on it. to this point issue has always been ping and pop. poor low end response. dealership has always said ride it and HD will improve in time. they were right. dealer is getting info now and should do bike in a few days. I think as with anything in it's first production year you need to be a bit of a guinea pig for the moco if you want to be the first on the block with the new toy... thats why it has a warranty.../ i own 2 hd's and ride the pi.... out of them. the guy that gets burned is the trailer jockey that is proud of his 10 year old bike with no miles on it. don't mean to offend anyone.
buy a harley, ride a harley, keep harley strong.......

god bless america

And FWIW, Yes, I was a bit presumptious on my statement about the PC preventing comm..... So I did a little experiment over the past 3 days....

I hooked up 19 different bikes, all equipped with PC's (III, IIIr, III USB).......

Out of those 19, 1 had no comm with PART of the data that is transmitted from the ECM to the D/T...., 3 completely failed comm

After finding those 4, I swapped them to other bikes, to see if it was the bike or the PC.....

Found that out of those 4, 3 had outdated FIRMWARE (Internal Logic programming), and 1 had an internal short (The back plate was severed off 3 of them, and the zip ties were holding everything together)......

The reason for the outdated firmware was these units sat on a shelf for over 3 years, and technology passed them by... They would hold a tune, but the LOGIC that it uses to manipulate the data was outdated....

As far as the case cracking and back plate detatching, that is an installation problem.....

12 of 19 were installed by the customers, the 4 that were bad were in that batch of 12......

If you do have a PC mounted on your bike, I would suggest INSULATING the PC from the vibration of the bike by using some Camper tape or doublesided foam stripping to absorb the high frequencies that occur to the chassis.... I think that this is what is causing the internal shortings, as the guts are solid state, but with time and constant vibration, ANYTHING can and will break/fracture.....

The PC is a decent unit, and I am not Biased against it, if anything, Dyno Tuners who are looking at making a quick $$$ would prefer to use it, as you can tune on the fly. and you have less areas to work with... Cheap and quick.. NEXT.....

I have seen far too many of them fail (Prior to this "Experiment"), to see some flaws that are in them..... My first PC was a III.... Would engage and manipulate fuel/spark mods ONLY when the ambient Air was at least 50 degrees..... Lasted 4 months.. Went to a IIIr.... Better unit as far as wiring and construction, same tuneability functions, but at least is was engaged at all times..... With the USB variant, you now have a few new features (Rev Extend/Accel Pump).......
